I would think that if the temperature in a given room was freezing cold or burning hot, then the term "room temperature" would not apply.

Room Temperature and Pressure (RTP) is defined for the purposes of scientific experiments to be 25Â°C and 101.325kPa, so that puts paid to that scheme.

No,it doesn't!

STP (Standard Temperature and Pressure) is defined as 0C and 1atm (101.325kPA). That's for the chemistry geeks.
SATP (Standard AMBIENT Temperature and Pressure (for us humans) is 25C and 1atm.

In addition, there's standard Civil aviation atmosphere, which is different (although I recall it's at 0 humidity).
Plus, another useful standard is the Army standard atmosphere, which is somewhat above sealevel, for artillery calculations.

Besides, if you're a true Englishman, you should state it as 70F and 14.69PSI ;-)

I know what STP is. While you use SATP, I use RTP. In fact, according to Google, you're outnumbered by nearly 3:1. Not least, I'm sure, because the word "ambient" simply means "surrounding" -- and that has nothing whatsoever to do with the absolute values! Anyway, SATP, apparently, uses a pressure of exactly 100kPa, not 1 atm as RTP so they aren't even equivalent.

Oddly enough, those units have been extremely uncommon in general usage for the previous fifty or so years, so I guess I would have to be 70 or so in order to have gained enough familiarity to work with them. I'm not. :wink:
