Call of Duty Ghosts

Postby Kahless » Mon Nov 11, 2013 10:03 pm

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the new Call of Duty. I think i'm about half way through the campaign. So far the story line is decent. Overall pretty fun. I get tired of the timed events where you have a few seconds to press a button. Some of the graphics are incredible and easily a match for BF4 and other times its like 2010 called and whats its special effects back. I read somewhere that a Physx patch is coming out for it sometime. I'm looking forward to seeing what that can do for it. This game seems to utilize hardware more than BF4. My hardware temps are much higher in this game than BF4.

Haven't played it yet. A new DLC just came out for Xcom so this will be my battle ground for the next few days.

Your hardware temps are much higher than in BF4 for both GPU and CPU? BF4 really takes use and spread the strain on pretty much everything when the graphic solution is strong. I wonder if COD does the same?

Have not played it yet, will do so after finishing BF4.

Here is a review on COD Ghosts though:

http://www.trustedreviews.com/call-of-d ... mes_review

Summary

Our Score 7/10

Pros

Spectacular scenes of mass-destruction
Looks fantastic on PC
Some good new multiplayer features

Cons

Single-player feels like Modern Warfare 4
Character customisation is confusing
Extinction mode a disappointment

The spectacle only gets better if you’re playing it on PC. Infinity Ward hasn’t rebuilt its engine, but it has layered an awful lot of graphical wizardry on top, with high-resolution textures, more realistic texture-mapping techniques, enhanced lighting, more realistic water effects and a range of cinematic particle, depth of field, motion blur and distortion effects.

With everything dialled up it looks pretty awesome, though you will need a hefty rig to run it. A Core i5/GeForce GTX 560Ti setup that’s been coping fine with Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4 on High settings struggled to cope with Ghosts without a few compromises here and there.
On the PS3 version you lose a lot of detail and a sizable proportion of the dazzling effects, leaving you with a game that looks much like Black Ops 2 and much like Modern Warfare 3 before that. It’s hardly ugly, but once you’ve seen the PC version the current-generation version will look dated, and more so than Battlefield 4.

I think the game runs better than BF4. I haven't seen any low frame rate dips on my system its always 60 or above.

If you like Diablo 3, you should really give the Borderlands sequel a try. It's a shooter version of Diablo with Drama, great humour, Bazillions of guns and really crazy gameplay.

2k spend a lot of effort in making cool videos for their games, here's the video made to introduce a new playable character, Krieg the psyco:

Clearly you are not next gen until you have Mustache physics! Nvidia and AMD better listen up. Tressfx doesn't have sh*t on it.

Then there is Hotdog physics.
